Scrap Metal Price: Weekly Report- March 7, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The following report provides the weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the week of February 28–March 6, 2025:

 

Copper Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, there was a notable jump of 5.09% in the price of copper scrap.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged higher by 4.98% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was up 5.09% from the start of the week, closing the week at $4.54 a pound. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.22 per pound, from $4.22 to $4.44.

USA East Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index increased by 4.98% for the week, from $4.42 to $4.64 per pound, as of Thursday, March 6, 2025. Over the past week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing edged higher from $4.32 to $4.54 per pound. By the end of the week, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing was selling for $4.44 per pound, a modest increase of 5.21%.

USA Midwest

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright has edged higher by 5.09% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing saw a modest 5.47% upside at the end of the week, going up from $4.22 to $4.44 per pound. The price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category witnessed a jump of 5.34%. The price per pound increased from $4.12 to $4.34 during the week.

USA West Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased by 4.89% during the week, from $4.50 to $4.72 per pound. This week, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing's price inched higher from $4.40 to $4.62 a pound. By the end of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had recorded an upward movement of 5.12%, from $4.30 to $4.52 per pound.

China

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the Index experienced a slight increase during the previous week, which ended on March 6, 2025. The weekly closing price of the commodity was CNY 77,150 per MT, which was higher than the previous week's price of CNY 75,700 per MT. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing's price jumped by 2.01% from the week before. Furthermore, the price of the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing was up by 2.04% at the conclusion of the week, rising from CNY 71,000 per MT to CNY 72,450 per MT.

Europe

From the previous week, the weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright remained at $6,000 per tonne.  On the Index, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing was unchanged from the previous week at $5,200 per tonne. Additionally, during the week ending March 6, 2025, there was no change in the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index.

 

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap inched higher by 4.80% from the previous week.

 

North America

Red Brass went higher from $2.58 to $2.70 per pound by the conclusion of the week. Yellow Brass also increased on the Index. The price of the commodity recorded a jump from $2.43 to $2.55 per pound, a 4.94% increase.

USA East Coast

Over the previous week, Red Brass's price increased by 4.65%. Toward the end of the week, Yellow Brass's price per pound also went higher from $2.43 to $2.55.

USA Midwest

Red Brass prices went up from $2.56 to $2.68 per pound, a 4.69% increase from the week before. Additionally, Yellow Brass prices increased on the Index. The commodity's price edged higher by 5.04%.

USA West Coast

Red Brass was up 4.58% from the previous week at $2.74 a pound as of Thursday, March 6, 2025. In addition, Yellow Brass's price per pound increased 4.96% over the previous week.

China

Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices witnessed minor increase during the week ending March 6, 2025. The Index shows that Red Brass' price recorded a jump from CNY 38,350 per MT to CNY 38,550, while Yellow Brass' price witnessed week-on-week increase by 0.56% to close at CNY 35,700 per MT.

 

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded marginal increase of 1.30% over the previous week.

North America

E.C. Aluminum Wire's pricing increased by 1.68% from $1.19 per pound the week before to $1.21 per pound. The price of 6063 Extrusions during the week ending March 6, 2025, witnessed a jump of 1.05% from the week before. On the Index, the price of Old Cast edged higher by 1.23%. Additionally, UBC's prices were up by 1.22% week-on-week.

Over the past week, E.C. Aluminum Wire's price witnessed an upside movement of 1.68% on the Index. In comparison to the previous week, the price of 6063 Extrusions were up by 1.05% during the week ending March 6, 2025. The Index indicated a marginal increase of 1.23% in Old Cast pricing. Also, during the previous week, UBC's prices witnessed a jump of 1.22% on the Index.

USA Midwest

Since a week ago, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has edged higher by 1.68%. The commodity's price ended the week at $1.21 per pound last week. Meanwhile, the price of 6063 Extrusions recorded a minor increase of 1.08% over the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that both UBC and Old Cast's prices were up slightly from the previous week.

USA West Coast

Over the preceding week, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 1.68% to $$1.21 per pound. According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of 6063 Extrusions were up by 1.05% on the Index. Over the course of the week, the prices of Old Cast in the Index recorded an increase of 1.22%. As of March 6, 2025, UBC's prices also edged higher by 1.2% to $0.84 per Lb.

China

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were up on the Index, rising from CNY 19,500 per MT to CNY 19,650 per MT. Additionally, the price of 6063 Extrusions increased by 0.82% to CNY 18,550 per MT, when compared with the previous week. The price of Old Cast edged higher by 0.82% on the Index as of March 6, 2025. UBC prices recorded a jump of 0.8% during the week to close at CNY 12,650 per MT.

Europe

The price of Old Cast held constant at $1,050 per tonne for the entire week. Furthermore, UBC prices remained at $1,250 per tonne, the same as the previous week, according to the ScrapMonster Index.

 

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap recorded a marginal increase of 3.17% over the previous week’s prices.

North America

An analysis of 304 SS Solid pricing trend indicates that the commodity's price recorded an increase of 3.17% over the prior week. The commodity's price was up from $0.63 per pound a week before to $0.65 per pound to end the week.

The price of 304 SS Solid were up marginally during the previous week, which concluded on March 6, 2025. The price of the commodity closed at $0.65 per pound.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices recorded a jump from $0.63 per Lb to $0.65 per Lb during the previous week.

USA West Coast

For the week ending March 6, 2025, the price of 304 SS Solid was up by 3.17%.

China

Over the course of the week, the price of 304 SS Solid witnessed no change. The reported price of the product held steady at CNY 12,000 per MT during the week ended March 6, 2025.

Europe

From the price of $1,070 per ton the week before, the price of 304 SS Solid remained constant.

 

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

Over the previous week, the #1 HMS's price has remained unchanged. The commodity's price remained steady at $370 per MT. In addition, the price of Shredded Auto Scrap remained steady at $425 per MT over the week. The price of HMS 80/20 was $300 per MT, the same as the week before. In addition, #1 Busheling's price remained constant throughout the week.

The ScrapMonster Index indicates that #1 HMS's prices stayed steady during the week at $370 per MT. The weekly pricing for Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged from $425 per MT the week before. The price of HMS 80/20 was set at $300 per MT for the duration of the week. The Index's #1 Busheling prices remained constant as well.

USA Midwest

#1 HMS's prices didn't change during the past week. Shredded Auto Scrap was likewise flat during the week. At $300 per MT, the Index's HMS 80/20 pricing stayed the same. The price of #1 Busheling remained unchanged during the week ending March 6, 2025.

USA West Coast

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed steady at $370 per MT. At $405 per MT over the week, prices for Shredded Auto Scrap also didn't change. As the previous week, HMS 80/20 prices stayed steady at $300 per MT. Furthermore, during the week, the price of #1 Busheling were unmoved at $445 per MT.

China

Over the previous week, there was no variation in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

There was no change in the price of #1 HMS during the course of the week; the ScrapMonster Index showed prices being constant at $170 per MT. Over the course of the week, Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged at $130 per MT from the previous week.

 

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The Scrap Auto Batteries pricing charts showed that the commodity's prices had not moved from the week before. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

The price of Scrap Auto Batteries for the week ending March 6, 2025 was $0.22 per pound.

USA Midwest

The price of scrap auto batteries remained steady throughout the week at $0.22 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index.

USA West Coast

The price of scrap auto batteries remained at $0.22 per pound, just as it had been at the beginning of the week.

China

The prices of Scrap Auto Batteries on the index reported no variation in the last week. The price of the commodity were unchanged at CNY 6,950 per MT during the week ended Thursday, March 6, 2025.

Europe

The price per ton of Scrap Auto Batteries remained at $820 throughout the week, unchanged from the previous week.

 

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded increase in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast rose from $0.74 per Lb at the start of the week to end at $0.76 per Lb. Week-on-week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise witnessed marginal increase. As of Thursday, March 6, 2025, the closing price of the commodity edged higher to $0.64 a pound.

The prices of New Zinc Die Cast registered an increase of 2.70% from the previous week’s price of $0.74 per Lb. Also, Old Zinc Die Cast prices jumped from $0.62 per Lb to $0.64 per Lb over the previous week.

USA Midwest

Over the preceding week, the price of New Zinc Die Cast witnessed a jump of 2.70%, closing at $0.76 per Lb. By the conclusion of the week, the price of Old Zinc Die Cast had witnessed an increase of 3.23%.

USA West Coast

New Zinc Die Cast prices increased marginally by 2.70% to close the week at $0.76 per Lb. Additionally, the Index showed upward trend in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast. The weekly closing price of the commodity was $0.64 per pound.

Europe

New Zinc Die Cast's price was the same as it was the week before. The price per tonne remained at $800.
