Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- March 14, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly global market price trends for the different scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the week of March 7–13, 2025, are given in the report that follows:

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of copper scrap saw a significant increase of 4.49% over the previous week.

North America

While #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was up 4.48% from the beginning of the week to close the week at $4.66 a pound, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright grew by 4.39% over the previous week. Similarly, the price of #2 Copper Wire & Tubing increased by $0.20 per pound, from $4.36 to $4.56.

As of Thursday, March 13, 2025, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index went up 4.39% for the week, from $4.56 to $4.76 per pound. The cost of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased slightly over the previous week, from $4.46 to $4.66 per pound. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had a little increase of 4.59% to $4.56 per pound by the conclusion of the week.

USA Midwest

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright has edged higher by 4.48% during the previous week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing saw a modest 4.59% upside at the end of the week, going up from $4.36 to $4.56 per pound. The price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category witnessed a jump of 4.69%. The price per pound increased from $4.26 to $4.46 during the week.

USA West Coast

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright rose 4.31% over the course of the week, from $4.64 to $4.84 per pound, according to the ScrapMonster Index. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing's price increased slightly this week, from $4.54 to $4.74 per pound. The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 4.50% by the end of the week, from $4.44 to $4.64 per pound.

China

The previous week, which concluded on March 13, 2025, saw a minor increase in the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the Index. The commodity's weekly closing price was CNY 78,200 per MT, higher than the price of CNY 77,200 per MT the week before. The price of #1 Copper Wire & Tubing increased by 1.36% over the previous week. Additionally, at the end of the week, the price of the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by 1.38%, from CNY 72,500 per MT to CNY 73,500 per MT.

Europe

The weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the week before. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained at $5,200 per tonne, unchanged from the previous week. Furthermore, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained unchanged during the week ending March 13, 2025.

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap inched higher by 2.69% from the previous week.

North America

By the end of the week, Red Brass was up from $2.68 to $2.75 per pound. On the Index, Yellow Brass also rose. The commodity's price increased by 2.77 percent, from $2.53 to $2.60 a pound.

Over the previous week, Red Brass's price increased by 2.61%. Toward the end of the week, Yellow Brass's price per pound also went higher from $2.53 to $2.60.

USA Midwest

Red brass prices increased by 2.63% from the previous week, from $2.66 to $2.73 per pound. The Index also showed an increase in Yellow Brass prices. The price of the commodity increased by 2.82%.

USA West Coast

Red Brass was up 2.57% from the previous week at $2.79 a pound as of Thursday, March 13, 2025. In addition, Yellow Brass's price per pound increased 2.76% over the previous week.

China

The week ending March 13, 2025, saw a slight increase in the price of red brass and yellow brass. According to the Index, the price of Red Brass increased from CNY 38,550 per MT to CNY 38,750, while the price of Yellow Brass increased by 0.56% week over week to end at CNY 35,900 per MT.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded marginal increase of 1.28% over the previous week.

North America

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire went up from $1.20 per pound the previous week to $1.22 per pound, a 1.67% rise. In the week ending March 13, 2025, the price of 6063 Extrusions increased by 1.04% compared to the previous week. The price of Old Cast increased by 1.22% on the Index. Furthermore, UBC's prices increased by 1.20% per week.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 1.67% on the Index during the previous week. During the week ending March 13, 2025, the price of 6063 Extrusions increased by 1.04% compared to the previous week. The Index showed that the price of Old Cast has increased by 1.22%. Additionally, UBC's prices saw a 1.20% increase on the Index during the previous week.

USA Midwest

Since a week ago, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has edged higher by 1.67%. The commodity's price ended the week at $1.22 per pound last week. Meanwhile, the price of 6063 Extrusions recorded a minor increase of 1.06% over the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that both UBC and Old Cast's prices were up slightly from the previous week.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire's price rose 1.67% to $1.22 per pound over the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that the price of 6063 extrusions increased by 1.04%. The prices of Old Cast in the Index increased by 1.20 percent over the week. Additionally, UBC's pricing increased by 1.19% to $0.85 per pound as of March 13, 2025.

China

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were up by 0.51% on the Index, rising from CNY 19,650 per MT to CNY 19,750 per MT. Additionally, the price of 6063 Extrusions increased by 0.54% to CNY 18,650 per MT, when compared with the previous week. The price of Old Cast edged higher by 0.54% on the Index as of March 13, 2025. UBC prices recorded a jump of 0.40% during the week to close at CNY 12,700 per MT.

Europe

For the whole week, the price of Old Cast remained fixed at $1,050 a tonne. Additionally, according to the ScrapMonster Index, UBC prices stayed at $1,250 per tonne, unchanged from the previous week.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap recorded a marginal increase of 4.62% over the previous week’s prices.

North America

An examination of 304 SS Solid pricing trend indicates that the commodity's price recorded an increase of 4.62% over the prior week. The price of the product ended the week at $0.68 per pound, up from $0.65 per pound the previous week.

From the price of $1,070 per ton the week before, the price of 304 SS Solid remained constant.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

Over the preceding week, the #1 HMS's price has stayed steady. The price of the commodity stayed at $370 per MT. Furthermore, over the course of the week, the price of shred auto scrap stayed constant at $425 per MT. Similar to the previous week, HMS 80/20 was priced at $300 per MT. Furthermore, the price of #1 Busheling didn't change during the week.

The ScrapMonster Index indicates that #1 HMS's prices stayed steady during the week at $370 per MT. The weekly pricing for Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged from $425 per MT the week before. The price of HMS 80/20 was set at $300 per MT for the duration of the week. The Index's #1 Busheling prices remained constant as well.

USA Midwest

Over the previous week, #1 HMS's prices have remained unchanged. During the week, Shredded Auto Scrap was also flat. The Index's HMS 80/20 pricing remained at $300 per MT. The week ending March 13, 2025, saw no change in the price of #1 Busheling.

USA West Coast

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed steady at $370 per MT. At $425 per MT over the week, prices for Shredded Auto Scrap also didn't change. As the previous week, HMS 80/20 prices stayed steady at $300 per MT. Furthermore, during the week, the price of #1 Busheling were unmoved at $445 per MT.

China

Over the previous week, there was no variation in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

The price of #1 HMS remained steady throughout the week, at around $170 per MT according to the ScrapMonster Index. Shredded Auto Scrap held steady at $130 per MT during the week, as it had the week before.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The Scrap Auto Batteries pricing charts showed that the commodity's prices had not moved from the week before. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

Europe

The price per ton of Scrap Auto Batteries remained at $820 throughout the week, unchanged from the previous week.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded increase in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast rose from $0.76 per Lb at the start of the week to end at $0.77 per Lb. Week-on-week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise witnessed marginal increase. As of Thursday, March 13, 2025, the price of the commodity edged higher to $0.65 a pound.

The prices of New Zinc Die Cast registered an increase of 1.32% from the previous week’s price of $0.76 per Lb. Also, Old Zinc Die Cast prices jumped from $0.64 per Lb to $0.65 per Lb over the previous week.

The price of New Zinc Die Cast increased by 1.32% over the previous week, ending at $0.77 per pound. As the week came to an end, the price of Old Zinc Die Cast had gone up by 1.56%.

USA West Coast

New Zinc Die Cast prices increased marginally by 1.32% to close the week at $0.77 per Lb. Additionally, the Index showed upward trend in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast. The weekly closing price of the commodity was $0.65 per pound.

Europe

New Zinc Die Cast's price was the same as it was the week before. The price remained unchanged at $800 per Tonne.
