Weekly Scrap Metal Price Report- April 25, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The following report provides the weekly global market price trends for the various scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the week of April 21-24, 2025:

Copper Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, there was a modest jump of 3.36% in the price of copper scrap.

North America

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged higher by 3.29% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was up 3.36% from the start of the week, closing the week at $4.61 a pound. Likewise, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.15 per pound, from $4.36 to $4.51.

As of Thursday, April 24, 2025, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index went higher by 3.29% through the week, from $4.56 to $4.71 per pound. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing went up from $4.46 to $4.61 per pound during the previous week. By the conclusion of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had recorded modest increase by 3.44% to $4.51 per pound.

USA Midwest

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright has inched higher by 3.36% in the last week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing saw a marginal 3.44% increase at the end of the week, going from $4.36 to $4.51 per pound. The price of copper scrap in the #2 Copper Wire and Tubing category edged higher by 3.52%. The price per pound increased from $4.26 to $4.41 during the week.

USA West Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright increased by 3.23% during the week, from $4.64 to $4.79 per pound. This week, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing's prices edged higher. By the end of the week, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing had jumped 0.49%, from $4.44 to $4.59 per pound.

China

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the Index experienced a slight increase during the previous week, which ended on April 24, 2025. The weekly closing price of the commodity was CNY 76,650 per MT, which was higher than the previous week's price of CNY 76,450 per MT. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing's price edged higher by 0.27% from the week before. Furthermore, the price of the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing was up by 0.28% at the conclusion of the week, rising from CNY 71,750 per MT to CNY 71,950 per MT.

Europe

From the previous week, the weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright remained at $6,000 per tonne.  On the Index, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing was unchanged from the previous week at $5,200 per tonne. Additionally, during the week ending April 24, 2025, there was no change in the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index.

Brass Scrap Prices

The prices for brass scrap inched higher marginally by 1.84% from the previous week.

North America

Red Brass increased from $2.80 to $2.85 per pound by the conclusion of the week. Yellow Brass also edged higher on the Index. The price of the commodity jumped from $2.65 to $2.70 per pound, a 1.89% rise.

Over the previous week, Red Brass's price increased by 1.79%. Toward the end of the week, Yellow Brass's price per pound also went higher from $2.65 to $2.70.

USA Midwest

Red brass prices inched higher by 1.79% from the previous week, from $2.79 to $2.84 per pound. The Index also showed an increase in Yellow Brass prices. The price of the commodity was up by 1.92%.

USA West Coast

As of Thursday, April 24, 2025, Red Brass was trading at $2.90 a pound, higher by 1.75% from the previous week. Additionally, compared to the previous week, Yellow Brass's price per pound edged higher by 1.87%.

China

The week ending April 24, 2025, saw a slight increase in the prices of Red Brass and Yellow Brass. According to the Index, the price of Red Brass inched higher from CNY 38,050 per MT to CNY 38,150, while the price of Yellow Brass increased by 0.28% week over week to end at CNY 35,300 per MT.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded marginal increase of 1.70% over the previous week.

North America

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire went higher from $1.05 per pound from the previous week to $1.08 per pound, a 2.86% increase. In the week ending April 24, 2025, the price of 6063 Extrusions edged higher by 1.16% compared to the previous week. The price of Old Cast increased by 1.39% on the Index. Furthermore, UBC's prices were up by 1.37% over the prior week.

The price of E.C. Aluminum Wire increased by 2.86% on the Index during the previous week. During the week ending April 24, 2025, the price of 6063 Extrusions was up by 1.16% compared to the previous week. The Index showed that the price of Old Cast has increased by 1.39%. Additionally, UBC's prices saw a 1.37% jump on the Index during the previous week.

USA Midwest

E.C. Aluminum Wire's price has increased by 2.86% since a week ago. Last week, the price of the commodity was $1.08 per pound at the end of the week. In the meantime, 6063 Extrusions' pricing saw a slight increase of 1.19% from the week before. According to the ScrapMonster Index, the prices of Old Cast and UBC were both marginally higher than they were the week before, rising by 1.43% and 1.39% respectively.

USA West Coast

E.C. Aluminum Wire's price edged higher by 2.86% to $1.08 per pound over the previous week. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that the price of 6063 Extrusions increased by 1.16%. The prices of Old Cast in the Index were up by 1.37% over the week. Additionally, UBC's pricing increased by 1.35% to $0.75 per pound as of April 24, 2025.

China

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices remained flat at CNY 18,800 per MT, when compared with the previous week. Also, upon comparison with the prior week, the price of 6063 Extrusions held steady at CNY 17,700 per MT. As of April 24, 2025, Old Cast's price on the Index witnessed no chnage. Over the course of the week, UBC prices dropped by 0.41% to CNY 12,200 per MT on the Index.

Europe

For the whole week, the price of Old Cast remained fixed at $1,050 a tonne. Additionally, according to the ScrapMonster Index, UBC prices stayed at $1,250 per tonne, unchanged from the previous week.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap recorded no variation over the previous week’s prices.

North America

An examination of 304 SS Solid pricing trend indicates that the commodity's price recorded no change over the prior week. The product's pricing stood at $0.64 per Lb.

USA Midwest

304 SS Solid prices recorded no change week-over-week. The prices were unchanged at $0.64 per Lb during the week.

304 SS Solid prices were unchanged at $0.64 per pound for the week ending April 24, 2025.

China

There was no change in the price of 304 SS Solid during the week. In the week ending April 24, 2025, the product's reported price was unchanged at CNY 10,250 per MT.

Europe

The price of 304 SS Solid did not change from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

Over the previous week, the #1 HMS's price has remained unchanged. The commodity's price remained steady at $365 per MT. In addition, the cost of Shredded Auto Scrap remained steady at $410 per MT over the week. The price of HMS 80/20 was $300 per MT, the same as the week before. In addition, #1 Busheling's price remained constant throughout the week.

The ScrapMonster Index indicates that #1 HMS's prices stayed steady during the week at $365 per MT. The weekly pricing for Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged from $410 per MT the week before. The price of HMS 80/20 was set at $300 per MT for the duration of the week. The Index's #1 Busheling prices remained constant as well.

USA Midwest

#1 HMS's prices didn't change during the past week. Shredded Auto Scrap was likewise flat during the week. At $300 per MT, the Index's HMS 80/20 pricing stayed the same. The price of #1 Busheling remained unchanged at $455 per MT during the week ending April 24, 2025.

USA West Coast

The #1 HMS pricing did not change during the past week. The price of the commodity stayed steady at $365 per MT. At $410 per MT over the week, prices for Shredded Auto Scrap also didn't change. As the previous week, HMS 80/20 prices stayed steady at $300 per MT. Furthermore, during the week, the price of #1 Busheling were unmoved at $455 per MT.

China

Over the previous week, there was no variation in #1 HMS prices. At CNY 1,630 per MT, the commodity's price remained stable.

Europe

There was no change in the price of #1 HMS during the course of the week; the ScrapMonster Index showed prices being constant at $170 per MT. Over the course of the week, Shredded Auto Scrap remained unchanged at $130 per MT from the previous week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for lead scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The Scrap Auto Batteries pricing charts showed that the commodity's prices had not moved from the week before. The price per pound stayed steady at $0.22 for the entire week.

There has been no change in the index's Scrap Auto Battery pricing during the past week. During the week ending Thursday, April 24, 2025, the commodity's price remained constant at CNY 6,850 per MT.

Europe

The price per ton of Scrap Auto Batteries remained at $820 throughout the week, unchanged from the previous week.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded marginal increase by 1.48% in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast were up by 1.35% to close the week at $0.75 per Lb. Week-on-week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise witnessed increase on the Index. As of Thursday, April 24, 2025, the price of the commodity was $0.63 a pound, up from the previous week by 1.61%.

The prices of New Zinc Die Cast registered an increase of 1.35% from the previous week’s price of $0.74 per Lb. The price of the commodity ended the week at $0.75 per Lb. Also, Old Zinc Die Cast prices were up by 1.61% over the previous week.

Over the past week, the price of New Zinc Die Cast prices edged higher by 1.35%. By the conclusion of the week, the price of Old Zinc Die Cast closed at $0.63 per Lb, higher by 1.61% from the prior week’s price of $0.62 per Lb.

USA West Coast

Throughout the week, the price of New Zinc Die Cast inched higher slightly by 1.35% to close at $0.75 per pound. Furthermore, there was marginal increase in the price of Old Zinc Die Cast according to the Index. The commodity's price was up from $0.62 per Lb to $0.63 per Lb.

Europe

New Zinc Die Cast's price was the same as it was the week before. The price remained unchanged at $800 per Tonne.
