Scrap Metal Prices: Weekly Report- August 15, 2025

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly global market price trends for the different scrap metal categories on the Scrap Monster Price Index for the week of August 8–14, 2025, are given in the report that follows:

Copper Scrap Prices

Over the previous week, there was no change in copper scrap prices.

North America

Over the past week, #1 Copper Bare Bright's price remained flat at $4.38 per Lb. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing closed at $4.18 per pound, unchanged from the prior week. Additionally, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded no change, holding steady at $4.18 per Lb when compared to the week before.

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index remained unchanged at $4.38 per Lb as of Thursday, August 14, 2025. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing prices were flat on the Index. Likewise, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing reported no variation in prices over the week. The prices of the commodity ended the week at $4.18 per Lb

USA Midwest

As of Thursday, August 14, 2025, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the ScrapMonster Index was unchanged during the week. #1 Copper Wire & Tubing prices ended the week at $4.17, recording no change from the previous week’s closing price. The average price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing held steady at $4.07 per Lb by the conclusion of the week.

USA West Coast

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 Copper Bare Bright witnessed no variation over the week, holding steady at $4.44 per pound. Last week, the price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing recorded no change. By the conclusion of the previous week, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing maintained previous week’s price of $4.24 per pound.

China

The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright on the Index increased during the preceding week, which ended on August 14, 2025. The weekly closing price of the commodity was CNY 78,000 per MT, which was higher than the price of CNY 77,450 per MT the week before. Compared to the previous week, the price of #1 Copper Wire & Tubing was up by 0.75%. Furthermore, the price of the Index's #2 Copper Wire and Tubing edged higher by 0.76% at the conclusion of the week, rising from CNY 72,750 per MT to CNY 73,300 per MT.

Europe

The weekly price of #1 Copper Bare Bright stayed at $6,000 per tonne from the week before. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing remained at $5,200 per tonne on the Index, unchanged from the previous week. Furthermore, the price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing on the Index remained constant during the week ending August 14, 2025.

Brass Scrap Prices

The price of Brass scrap went higher marginally by 0.7% over the previous week.

North America

By the end of the week, Red Brass prices had gone up from $2.92 to $2.94 per pound. On the Index, Yellow Brass also saw a rise. The commodity's price increased by 0.72%, from $2.77 to $2.79 per pound.

Over the last week, Red Brass's price edged higher by 0.68%. At the end of the week, Yellow Brass's price per pound also increased from $2.77 to $2.79.

USA Midwest

Red Brass's reported price jumped by 0.7% from the previous week, rising from $2.86 to $2.88 per pound. The Index also showed that the price of Yellow Brass had increased. The price of the commodity registered a jump of 0.75% week-on-week.

USA West Coast

Red Brass was up modestly by 0.66% from the previous week, trading at $3.04 per pound as of Thursday, August 14, 2025. Additionally, Yellow Brass's price per pound inched up by 0.70% from the previous week.

China

The week ending August 14, 2025, saw a marginal increase in the price of Red Brass and Yellow Brass. According to the Index, the price of Red Brass was up by 0.26% to CNY 38,500 per MT towards the end of the week, while the price of Yellow Brass inched higher marginally by 0.28% to end the week at CNY 35,650 per MT.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

The Index's aluminum scrap prices recorded no variation over the previous week.

North America

E.C. Aluminum Wire's pricing remained unchanged from $1.18 per pound the week before. The price of 6063 Extrusions during the week ending August 14, 2025, was $0.93 per pound, the same as the week before. On the Index, the price of Old Cast remained stable at $0.79 a pound. Furthermore, UBC's prices were unchanged from the previous week.

Over the past week, E.C. Aluminum Wire's price remained flat on the Index. In comparison to the previous week, the price of 6063 Extrusions held steady during the week ending August 14, 2025. The Index indicated no variation in Old Cast pricing. Also, during the previous week, UBC's prices held steady at $0.80 per pound.

USA Midwest

Since a week ago, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire has not changed. The commodity's price remained stable at $1.18 per pound last week. Meanwhile, the price of 6063 Extrusions remained constant from week to week. The ScrapMonster Index indicates that neither UBC nor Old Cast's prices changed from the previous week.

USA West Coast

Over the preceding week, the price of E.C. Aluminum Wire held steady at $$1.18 per pound. According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of 6063 Extrusions were flat at $0.93 per pound. Over the course of the week, the prices of Old Cast in the Index witnessed no variation. As of August 14, 2025, UBC's prices also held steady at $0.81 per Lb.

China

E.C. Aluminum Wire prices were flat on the Index, witnessing no change from CNY 19,550 per MT. Additionally, the price of 6063 Extrusions closed at CNY 18,450 per MT, recording no variation from the previous week. The price of Old Cast witnessed no change on the Index as of August 14, 2025. UBC prices recorded no change week-on-week, remaining unchanged at CNY 12,700 per MT at the end of the week.

Europe

The price of Old Cast held constant at $1,050 per tonne for the entire week. Furthermore, UBC prices remained at $1,250 per tonne, the same as the previous week, according to the ScrapMonster Index.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices 

The prices of Stainless Steel scrap recorded no change over the previous week’s prices.

North America

The weekly pricing trend analysis of 304 SS Solid showed that the commodity's price remained steady at $0.60 per pound, with no change over the previous week.

The preceding week, which ended on August 14, 2025, saw no change in the price of 304 SS Solid. The commodity's price was flat at $0.60 per pound.

USA Midwest

There was no change in 304 SS solid prices from week to week. At the end of the week, the Index's prices were $0.60 per pound.

USA West Coast

For the week ending August 14, 2025, 304 SS Solid prices stayed flat at $0.60 a pound.

China

The price of 304 SS Solid witnessed a slight increase during the week. In the week ending August 14, 2025, the price of the commodity increased from CNY 10,050 per MT to CNY 10,100 per MT.

Europe

The price of 304 SS Solid did not change from the previous week's price of $1,070 per ton.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel Scrap prices reported no change when compared with the previous week.

North America

Over the previous week, there has been no change in the price of the #1 HMS. The commodity's price remained steady at $320 per MT. Additionally, the price of Shredded Auto Scrap remained constant at $370 per MT throughout the week. HMS 80/20 was priced at $265 per MT, same like it was the week before. Similarly, #1 Busheling's pricing remained unchanged throughout the week.

Throughout the week, the price of HMS 80/20 remained constant at $265 per MT. Additionally, the #1 Busheling rates in the Index did not change.

USA Midwest

The prices of #1 HMS have not altered in the past week. Shredded Auto Scrap was likewise flat during the week. The HMS 80/20 pricing for the Index stayed at $265 per MT. #1 Busheling remained at $420 per MT in the week ending August 14, 2025.

USA West Coast

Over the previous week, the #1 HMS's price has remained unchanged. The commodity's price remained steady at $320 per MT. Additionally, the price of Shredded Auto Scrap remained steady at $370 per MT throughout the week. HMS 80/20's pricing remained at $265 per MT from the previous week. Additionally, the price of #1 Busheling remained constant at $420 per MT throughout the week.

China

The #1 HMS prices remained unchanged from the previous week. The price of the commodity held steady at CNY 1,630 per MT.

Europe

According to the ScrapMonster Index, the price of #1 HMS stayed consistent throughout the week at $170 per MT. As in the previous week, the price of Shredded Auto Scrap remained constant at $130 per MT during the week.

Lead Scrap Prices

Prices for Lead Scrap were stable as compared to the previous week.

North America

The prices of the commodity had not changed from the previous week, according to the Scrap Auto Batteries pricing data. Throughout the week, the price per pound remained constant at $0.24.

The price of scrap vehicle batteries on the Index recorded no variation during the past week. During the week ending Thursday, August 14, 2025, the commodity's price held steady at CNY 6,800 per MT.

Europe

Throughout the week, the price per ton of Scrap Auto Batteries stayed at $820, which was the same as the week before.

Zinc Scrap Prices

Zinc Scrap prices recorded no change in prices week-on-week.

North America

The price of New Zinc Die Cast were unchanged at $0.77 per Lb. Week-on-week, Old Zinc Die Cast prices likewise witnessed no change on the Index. As of Thursday, August 14, 2025, the price of the commodity was $0.64 a pound.

New Zinc Die Cast's price was the same as it was the week before. At $800 per Tonne, the price remained unchanged week-on-week.
