U.S. Raw Steel Output Surged 14.3%

The cumulative adjusted year-to-date U.S. raw steel production totalled 80.720 million NT through the week ending on November 6, 2021.

U.S. Raw Steel Output Surged 14.3%

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The U.S. weekly raw steel output recorded notable increase by 14.3% during the week ending on November 6, 2021, when matched with the comparable week in 2020. This is in accordance with the latest weekly domestic production statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

The U.S. weekly domestic raw steel output totalled 1.841 million net tons (NT). The domestic mill capability utilization rate was 83.4%. It must be noted that the production had totalled only 1.611 million NT at a much lower capacity utilization rate of 72.8% during the corresponding week a year before. Meantime, the weekly crude steel production recorded marginal decline by 1.0% over the week. The production was 1.860 million NT during the week ended October 30, 2021.

The cumulative adjusted year-to-date U.S. raw steel production totalled 80.720 million NT through the week ending on November 6, 2021. This is up by 20.1% from the production which totalled 67.189 million NT during the same period in 2020. The capability utilization rate too recorded notable surge from 67.3% to 81.5% over the year.

The leading producer was the Southern region, with an output of 776,000 net tons. The production by Great Lakes region stood at 612,000 net tons during the week. The production by other regions (in thousand net tons) is as follows: North East-176, Midwest-199 and Western-78.
