U.S. Boxboard Production Declined 2% in November

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) published paper statistics for the month of November this year.

The recent report published by the Association says that total containerboard production by the country recorded 2% year-on-year surge during November 2020. The combined production during the initial eleven months of the year too was up by 4% when matched with Jan-Nov ’19. The containerboard production for export has declined by 6% during the month and has surged higher by 13% during the year-to-date period. The containerboard operating rate remained essentially flat at 93.3%. The mill inventories of containerboard at the end of November this year were 39,000 short tons higher when compared to November last year, AF&PA report said.

The total shipments of packaging papers & specialty packaging recorded an increase by 9% over the previous year. The Jan-Nov ’20 shipments were up 4% year-on-year. The operating rates too posted marginal increase by 1% to 85.5%. The mill inventories at the end of November 2020 remained essentially flat upon comparison with the same month a year before.

The total boxboard production witnessed decline by 2% from November 2019. The boxboard operating rate edged lower by 1.4% to 91.3% over the previous year. The recycled boxboard production saw dip by 4% in November this year.
