Tolko Declares Joint Venture Lumber Mill Project in Alabama

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tolko Industries (U.S.) Limited has announced a joint venture partnership with Jasper Lumber Company in an existing sawmill, shavings business, whole log chipper, and trucking operations in Jasper, Alabama. The 50:50 partnership entity will be known as Jasper Forest Products LLC., A Jasper-Tolko Partnership and is expected to bring significant economic and employment benefits to the entire region.

Commenting on the deal, Brad Thorlakson, CEO, Tolko Industries said that the joint venture project will be an important part of the company’s growth and that it is excited to be investing in the mill in collaboration with Jasper Lumber Company. The company is committed to enhance its sales, marketing, and logistic capabilities to service existing and new customers across North America and abroad, he added. It must be noted that this is Tolko’s third U.S. lumber partnership.

Roy Beall, Chief Operating Officer, Jasper Lumber Company noted that the company is thrilled about the partnership and that it looks forward to work with Tolko as it plans to almost triple its capacity from current 70 mmfbm to nearly 200 mmfbm, he added.

The joint venture project is expected to create jobs and contribute significantly to the economic development of the community.
