The company implemented the carbon dioxide emission reduction approach at its Blast furnace in Duisburg site, which was independently assured by the international certification body DNV. The approach reduces carbon emission intensity per tonne of steel by nearly 70%, the benefits of which were also confirmed by Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy.
Commenting on the launch, Bernhard Osburg, CEO of thyssenkrupp Steel said that the company will now go ahead with active marketing measures for the bluemint range of steel products. The products contribute to real and measurable carbon dioxide reduction. It plans to expand the commercialization of the products and has started negotiations with a number of additional customers, he added.
