TerraCycle Collaborates to Launch Innovative Packaging Recycling Program

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): TerraCycle- the international recycling leader announced that it has collaborated with ShiKai- the leader in botanically-based solutions to launch a free packaging recycling program. The program will allow recycling of packaging for ShiKai’s wide range of skin and hair care products.

By way of this, consumers can now recycle ShiKai packaging in the U.S. through TerraCycle. Consumers could send ShiKai packaging to TerraCycle. Every shipment thus sent could earn them points, which could then be donated to a non-profit, school or charitable organization of their choice, said the ShiKai press release.

The recycling program accepts empty ShiKai packaging including plastic tubes, pots, pumps, sprays, jars, complex closures and glass packaging. The collected packaging will be cleaned and processed into hard plastic that could be remolded to manufacture new recycled products such as park benches and picnic tables. The program is open to any interested individual, school, office or community organizations.

The consumers are required to sign up on TerrCycle program page and mail the used packaging using a prepaid shipping label.

The program intends to help keep waste out of landfills, lessen footprints of individual customers and organizations and reduce the need for virgin materials for remanufacture of products.
