The increased recycled content is being achieved by adding additional scrap to the company’s steelmaking process.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tata Steel Nederland announced launch of Zeremis Recycled- steel with high recycled content. With an initial allocated 30% recycled content, Zeremis Recycled will contribute to a reduction of 0.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide per tonne of steel. The new product is expected to help customers achieve their circularity goals, without compromising on the quality of steel.
The new advanced steel with substantial recycled content will find increasing demand from various industries, including automotive, packaging and construction, said the company press release. The increased recycled content is being achieved by adding additional scrap to the company’s steelmaking process.
Tom Eussen, member of the Board of Management of Tata Steel Nederland and Managing Director of Tata Steel IJmuiden stated that customers could now claim the recycled content value at the product level by using Zeremis Recycled. The introduction of the product will advance circularity and enhance steel’s value retention, he added.
Tata Steel Nederland’s Green Steel Plan aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieve complete carbon neutrality by 2045. The launch of Zeremis Recycled is part of the company’s sustainability strategy. Customers will have the opportunity to secure Zeremis low carbon steel by 2030.
