The Marimekko gift packaging portfolio promises to deliver significant reduction in resource consumption with its flexible packaging system.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The scalable and recyclable gift packaging portfolio developed for a range of Marimekko’s products by Stora Enso has won the prestigious Red Dot Design Award 2025. The innovative product series was launched by the company in May this year.
A press release from the company stated that it was the winner of the Red Dot Award, one of the world's largest design contests, for exceptional design and creative performance in the Product Design category. According to the statement, renewable certified materials make up the award-winning packaging portfolio.
With its adaptable packaging system, the Marimekko gift packaging line claims to significantly reduce resource usage. The Marimekko gift packaging portfolio, which the boxes are constructed of, uses fewer resources and can be folded in a number of ways to safely package a variety of goods without the need for cushioning or adhesive tape.
Anna Kjellberg, Design Director, Packaging Solutions Division at Stora Enso, commented on the accomplishment and said the company is thrilled to have received Red Dot's accreditation. The package line combines Marimekko's powerful brand identification with superior protection, improved usefulness, and aesthetic appeal. Kjellberg continued, "Stora Enso is thrilled to see the gift packaging being used globally."
