Tata Steel Europe, USA and Ternium, Mexico were adjudged the winners in occupational safety management category.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) recognized six member companies for their excellence in safety and health standards. The companies were selected from among several submissions to the Safety and Health Recognition Programme 2021.
Two companies- BlueScope Steel Limited and Qatar Steel Company (QPSC), Qatar won the award for safety culture and leadership. BlueScope had earlier piloted a human-centred approach across a number of business units, before adopting its evolved approach across its global operations in 2021. QPSC won the recognition for its SEE it, OWN it & SHARE it safety observation and feedback programme.

Tata Steel Europe, USA and Ternium, Mexico were adjudged the winners in occupational safety management category. Tata Steel had come up with a dedicated resource to develop engineered solutions and to provide guidance for application across the entire logistics network. Also, Ternium’s Safe Forklift programme focused on reducing mishaps caused by forklift operation at its sites.
The efforts by Tata Steel Limited, India in mitigating Covid-19 risks and Gerdau SA, Brazil’s online gas monitoring project won laurels for process safety management.
