SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Domestic raw steel production in the United States recorded steady growth during the week ending March 28, 2026, reflecting improved operating conditions and stable demand across key regions. Total output reached 1,803,000 net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 77.9%.

This marks a 5.9% increase compared with the same week in 2025, when production stood at 1,703,000 net tons and utilization was 76.5%. On a week-on-week basis, production also edged higher by 1.2% from 1,781,000 net tons reported for the week ending March 21, 2026, when mills operated at 77.0% capacity.

Year-to-date figures further highlight the upward trend in steel output. Adjusted production through March 28, 2026 totaled 22,197,000 net tons, representing a 5.0% increase from 21,143,000 net tons recorded during the corresponding period last year. The cumulative capability utilization rate also improved to 77.2%, compared with 76.4% a year earlier.

Regionally, the Southern district led production with 818,000 net tons, followed by the Great Lakes at 513,000 net tons. The Midwest contributed 270,000 net tons, while the North East and Western regions produced 136,000 and 66,000 net tons, respectively.
