Production levels marked a 5.2% increase compared with the same week in 2025, when output stood at 1,703,000 net tons and mills operated at 76.5% capacity utilization. The latest figures indicate continued year-over-year growth in U.S. steel output despite some short-term fluctuations.

Meanwhile, adjusted year-to-date production through March 7, 2026 reached 16,839,000 net tons, reflecting a 5.0% increase compared with 16,035,000 net tons during the same period in 2025. The year-to-date capability utilization rate averaged 77.2%, slightly higher than the 76.4% recorded last year.

Regionally, the Southern district led production with 803,000 net tons, followed by the Great Lakes region with 516,000 net tons. The Midwest produced 286,000 tons, the Northeast 120,000 tons, and the Western district 66,000 tons, bringing the national total to 1.791 million net tons for the week.
