This marks an 8.7% increase compared to the same week in 2025, when production stood at 1.684 million net tons and utilization was 75.0%.

However, on a week-over-week basis, output edged down by 1.0% from 1.848 million net tons recorded in the prior week ending April 18, 2026, when the utilization rate was slightly higher at 80.0%.

Year-to-date, U.S. raw steel production reached 29.55 million net tons through April 25, 2026, reflecting a 6.0% increase from 27.89 million net tons during the same period last year. The cumulative capability utilization rate also improved to 77.8%, up from 76.1% a year earlier.

Regionally, the Southern district led production with 821,000 net tons, followed by the Great Lakes region at 510,000 net tons. The Midwest produced 302,000 net tons, while the Northeast and Western regions contributed 131,000 and 66,000 net tons, respectively.
