SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): U.S. domestic raw steel production recorded a notable increase in the week ending February 7, 2026, signaling stable demand and improved mill operations. According to weekly data, total raw steel output reached 1,783,000 net tons, while the capability utilization rate rose to 77.1 percent. This compares with 1,700,000 net tons produced during the same week in 2025, when utilization stood at 76.3 percent, reflecting a 4.9 percent year-on-year increase in production.
On a week-over-week basis, steel output also strengthened. Production for the latest reporting week was up 1.4 percent from 1,758,000 net tons in the week ending January 31, 2026, when mills operated at a 76.0 percent utilization rate. The incremental gain highlights consistent operational momentum across the U.S. steel sector.

On an adjusted year-to-date basis, domestic raw steel production through February 7, 2026, totaled 9,557,000 net tons, achieved at an average capability utilization rate of 76.2 percent. This marks a 3.7 percent increase from 9,218,000 net tons recorded during the same period last year.
Regionally, the Southern district led production with 800 thousand net tons, followed by the Great Lakes at 526, Midwest at 269, North East at 124, and the Western region at 64, bringing the weekly total to 1,783 thousand net tons.
U.S. domestic raw steel production totaled 1,783,000 net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 77.1 percent.
Production increased 4.9 percent from 1,700,000 net tons in the corresponding week of 2025.
