U.S. Raw Steel Output Up 5.6% YoY in Mid-February 2026

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): U.S. domestic raw steel production reached 1,800,000 net tons in the week ending February 14, 2026, as mills operated at a capability utilization rate of 77.8 percent. The latest weekly output represents a 5.6 percent increase from the corresponding week in 2025, when production totaled 1,705,000 net tons and utilization stood at 76.5 percent.

On a week-over-week basis, production advanced 1.0 percent from 1,783,000 net tons recorded in the week ending February 7, 2026. Capability utilization during the prior week was 77.1 percent, indicating a steady improvement in operating efficiency and mill throughput.

Adjusted year-to-date production through February 14, 2026 amounted to 11,357,000 net tons at a capability utilization rate of 76.4 percent. This marks a 4.0 percent increase compared with 10,923,000 net tons produced during the same period in 2025, when utilization averaged the same 76.4 percent.

Regionally, the Southern district led output with 826,000 net tons, followed by the Great Lakes at 511,000 tons. The Midwest produced 272,000 tons, while the North East and Western districts contributed 123,000 tons and 68,000 tons, respectively, bringing total weekly production to 1.8 million net tons.
