SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The U.S. steel industry reported stronger year-over-year production figures during the week ending June 13, 2026. The robust output figures reflect the continued resilience in domestic manufacturing activity. However, the output reported a slight decline from the previous week.

According to the latest industry data, U.S. raw steel mills produced approximately 1.854 million net tons during the week, at a capability utilization rate of 80.3%. This marks a 3.5% increase compared with the corresponding week in 2025, when production totaled 1.792 million net tons and utilization stood at 79.8%.

However, weekly output edged lower from the prior reporting period, posting a modest week-over-week decline of 1.2%. Production during the week ending June 6, 2026, reached 1.877 million net tons, with mills operating at an 81.3% utilization rate.

The adjusted raw steel production through June 13 reached 42.544 million net tons, up 6.3% from 40.035 million net tons recorded during the same period in 2025. The capability utilization rate also improved from 76.8% a year before to 78.6%.

Regionally, the Southern district remained the largest contributor with 835,000 net tons. Production from the Great Lakes region totaled 498,000 net tons, followed by the Midwest at 316,000 net tons, the Northeast at 137,000 net tons, and the Western district at 68,000 net tons.
