SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Steel Dynamics reported a strong financial performance for the second quarter of 2026, driven by record steel shipments, improving steel prices, and continued growth in its aluminum business.
During the quarter, the company generated net sales of $6.1 billion, operating income of $700 million, and net income of $534 million, or $3.69 per diluted share. Adjusted EBITDA reached $921 million, while cash flow from operations totaled $428 million. Steel Dynamics also repurchased $200 million worth of its common shares during the quarter.

For the first six months of 2026, Steel Dynamics reported net sales of $11.3 billion and net income of $938 million, substantially higher than the same period last year.
Looking ahead, the company expects favorable market conditions, growing U.S. manufacturing investments, and rising demand for domestically produced, lower-carbon steel and aluminum products to support continued growth through 2026 and into 2027.
Chairman and CEO Mark D. Millett said stronger steel pricing and record shipments boosted earnings, while demand remained healthy across key sectors such as energy, automotive, industrial manufacturing, agriculture, and non-residential construction.
The company reported $6.1 billion in net sales, $700 million in operating income, $534 million in net income, and $921 million in adjusted EBITDA.
Record steel shipments, improving steel prices, and continued growth in its aluminum business were the primary drivers.
