JSW Steel USA celebrates seven years in Mingo Junction with community event

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Leaders and employees of JSW Steel USA gathered at 7 Ranges Entertainment on Wednesday night to celebrate seven years of operation in Mingo Junction.

The facility, originally established in 1856 as Jefferson Iron Works, was revived by JSW Steel in June 2018 after being formerly occupied by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel.

CEO Robert Simon reflected on the past seven years, stating,

"It's been a commodity mill for its entire life and we are making very much our value out of the mill, so great productivity increases, great training for our employees," CEO Robert Simon said. "Really, really cool things happening.

"People were super excited that we chose this venue and we want to do anything we can in the community. We're big members of the community, we have a lot of responsibilities for that."

"I love the fact that they're bringing something back and we brought something back to the community here," Jessica Elias, events and marketing director at 7 Ranges Entertainment, said. "They were able to bring their employees, families and spouses and have everybody here to enjoy and be a part of the Valley."

Looking ahead to 2026, Jose Torres, senior vice president of operations at JSW Steel USA Mingo Junction, shared plans for growth.

"The best part I see over there is the people,' Torres said. "I think we need to provide a way for the people to realize their abilities. Right now, we are planning to make two big investments. One to have really good steel from the standpoint of cleanliness and another one to make product and I think people are a key component."
