The United States' domestic steel mills shipped 37.285 million net tons in the first five months of 2025.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to monthly figures from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI), U.S. steel shipments in March of this year were marginally higher than those in the same month last year. However, when compared to the previous month, shipments showed a decrease.
In May 2025, the steel mills shipped 7.507 million net tons, according to AISI data. Compared to shipments of 7.432 million net tons in the same month in 2024, this is a 1.0% increase. Shipments fell 1% from April of this year compared to the previous month. According to the AISI statistics, 7.581 million net tons of steel were transported in April of this year.

The United States' domestic steel mills shipped 37.285 million net tons in the first five months of 2025. In comparison to the same period last year, this indicates a little 1.9% gain. Between January and May of 2024, these mills shipped 36.608 million net tons of steel.
The shipment volumes of several steel products for the current year are compared in this study. The first five months of this year saw a 1% decrease in corrosion-resistant sheet shipments compared to the same period last year. Shipments of hot rolled sheets and strips fell by 2%. Shipments of cold rolled sheets and strips, however, rose somewhat by 1% annually in comparison to 2024, according to AISI.
