SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production decreased by roughly 1.70 percent in the week ending March 15, 2025. A comparison between this week and the same week last year served as the basis for this.
The United States produced 1.667 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel during the week. The domestic mill capacity was utilized at a rate of 74.9%. Remember that production reached 1.696 million NT during the same week last year, with a slightly higher capacity utilization rate of 76.4%.

The production for the week ending March 15, 2025, was 0.20% lower than the previous week, which ended on March 8, 2025, when crude steel output reached 1.671 million NT at a capability utilization rate of 75.0%.
The Southern region produced the most, with 771,000 net tons. The Great Lakes area produced 471,000 net tons during the week. Other regions' productions (in thousand net tons) are North East-120, Midwest-240, and Western-61.
As of March 15, 2025, the adjusted year-to-date output was 17.517 million net tons, with a capability utilization rate of 74.4%. This represents a 1.3% decrease from the same time in 2024, when production was 17.751 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 75.8%.
