SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): U.S. steel shipments continued to rise during the month of June this year, with shipments recording jumps both on a monthly and annual basis, according to the latest statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).

The shipments by U.S. steel mills totalled 8.54 million net tons during June 2026. This represents an 8.7% increase compared with the 7.85 million net tons recorded in the same month a year before. Shipments also improved by 4.8% from 8.14 million net tons in May 2026.

For the first six months of 2026, total U.S. steel shipments reached 47.53 million net tons, marking a 5.3% increase from 45.14 million net tons shipped during the same period in 2025. The year-to-date figures highlight continued momentum in shipments despite challenging market conditions.

Among major steel product categories, corrosion-resistant sheet and strip posted the strongest performance, with shipments climbing 14% compared with the first half of last year. Hot-rolled sheet and strip shipments also recorded healthy growth, recording a jump of 8% over the same period.

Meanwhile, cold-rolled sheet and strip shipments remained stable, showing no change from the levels reported during the first six months of 2025.
