Dempsey noted that the DOE’s announcement recognizes the leadership of the American steel industry in reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and producing the cleanest steel in the world. The American manufacturing industry as a whole, steel industry in particular, have been making significant investments in cleaner and more sustainable production processes. The industry looks forward to implement these and many more initiatives by working with the administration, he added.
Incidentally, the industrial sector accounts for nearly one third of the overall U.S. greenhouse gas emissions.
