BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The recent data released by Chinese Customs indicate that the country’s stainless steel export during the entire year 2014 is all set to cross 3 million tons.
As per Customs data, the country’s exports of stainless steel coils and sheets totaled 217,000 tons during the month of October. The exports during the month were 36% higher when compared with the same month a year ago. China had exported 160,000 tons of these products during October 2013. The key destinations for Chinese stainless steel exports were Taiwan and South Korea.
The stainless steel exports by the country during the initial ten-month period of the year totaled 2.49 million tons. The exports surged higher by 58% when compared with the corresponding ten-month period in 2013. The country’s exports during the period from January to October last year had totaled 1.58 million tons.
The stainless steel exports by the country are estimated to touch 3 million tons during 2014, Customs noted.
