WASHINGTON(Scrap Monster): Turtle Wings, the Maryland based electronics recycler, has announced that it produced 145 Mwh of energy in 2011 enough to power 13 homes by diverting materials away from landfills, through Energy from Waste technology, where electricity is generated from the incineration of otherwise unusable materials.

Turtle Wings has been recognized for its environmentally sound initiatives in taking advantage of Energy-from-Waste technology. In 2011, Turtle Wings provided 263,920 pounds of waste materials for combustion which in turn saved over 258 barrels of fuel oil.

Turtle Wings' logistics manager Dejuan Hawkins stated, "We come across things that just can't be recycled in a traditional sense, but we always have a way deal with it responsibly. It's really important to us that nothing ends up in landfills. If we can do it in a way that also provides clean energy, all the better." Turtle Wings' newest achievement represents the company's ongoing commitment towards providing eco-friendly solutions that uphold the "no landfill" policy."

Turtle Wings was founded in 2005 which has evolved into a nationwide company, providing on-site data destruction services under the Data Killers trade name.
