Softwood Lumber Market Remains Unseasonably Quiet

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Southern Yellow Pine prices continued their downward trend; sales of plywood finally gained some traction.

In the week ending June 13, 2025, the price of benchmark softwood lumber item Western Spruce-Pine-Fir 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$462 mfbm. This is up +$6, or +1%,from the previous week when it was $456, said weekly forest products industry price guide newsletter Madison’s Lumber Reporter.

That week’s price is up +$16, or +4%, from one month ago when it was $446.

Compared to the same week last year, when it was US$384 mfbm, that week’s price was up +$78, or +20%. Compared to two years ago when it was $360, that week’s price was up +$102 or +28%.

 In the week ending June 13, 2025, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$425 mfbm. This is down -$20, or -4%, from the previous week when it was $445.

That week’s price is down -$84, or -17%, from one month ago when it was $509.

When compared to the same week last year, when it was $370, that week’s price was up +$55, or +15%. Compared to two years ago when it was $425, that week’s price was flat.
