August 18, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Dropped on the Index

304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning prices held steady on the Index.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): As of Monday, August 18, 2025, Chinese Copper scrap prices recorded modest decline on the ScrapMonster Price Index. Aluminum scrap prices also dropped when compared with the previous day. In the meantime, Brass/Bronze, Stainless Steel and Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.
Copper Scrap Prices
#1 Copper Bare Bright prices were down by CNY 200 per MT over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also declined by CNY 200 per MT each.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were down by CNY 100 per MT upon comparison with the previous day’s price. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices held steady over the previous day.
Copper Transformer scrap prices were flat on the Index.
Cu Yokes scrap prices held steady.
Cu/Al Radiator prices recorded no variation on the Index.
Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices were flat over the previous day’s prices.
Heater Cores prices dropped by CNY 50 per MT as of Monday, August 18, 2025.
Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices recorded no change over the previous day’s prices.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
6063 Extrusions prices were down by CNY 150 per MT over the previous day.
Aluminum Ingots also dropped by CNY 150 per MT on a daily basis.
The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers witnessed marginal decline by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.
E.C Aluminum Wire prices recorded a decline of CNY 150 per MT on the Index.
Old Cast and Old Sheet prices also edged lower by CNY 150 per MT each as of August 18, 2025.
The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF were down by CNY 50 per MT from the previous day’s price.
Steel Scrap Prices
#1 HMS prices held steady as of August 18, 2025.
Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.
Stainless Steel Scrap Prices
201 SS prices were flat on the Index.
304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning prices held steady on the Index.
309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices witnessed no change when compared with the prior day.
310 SS scrap prices also were flat as of August 18, 2025.
Shred SS prices recorded no change over the previous day’s price.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded no change on the Index.
Brass Radiator scrap prices were flat as of August 18, 2025.
Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices held steady on the Index.
