SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Holmen announced investment in new CLT production plant at its Swedish mill. The investment will result in increased production and processing of wood products for sustainable construction.

According to company press release, it plans to establish a cutting line and a distribution warehouse at Braviken Sawmill outside Norrkoping, which in turn will shorten delivery times to customers in southern Sweden and reduce transport costs and climate footprint of its products.
The company plans extension and investment to remove bottlenecks at Bygdsiljum Sawmill, which will lead to increased CLT production from the mill. The installation of a new CNC milling machine is expected to boost the capacity by over 50%. The new plant is expected to become operational by spring 2024.
Olov Martinson, mill manager at Bygdsiljum Sawmill noted that the rising interest in wood construction has resulted in boosted demand for processed wood products, especially CLT and glulam beams. The company sees great opportunities to develop the business. The proposed investment is part of the company’s efforts to further strengthen its business, he added.
