84 Lumber announces opening of new Franklin, Indiana facility

Pennsylvania-based 84 Lumber has announced opening of its new manufacturing facility in Franklin, Indiana.

FRANKLIN (Scrap Monster): Pennsylvania-based 84 Lumber has announced opening of its new manufacturing facility in Franklin, Indiana. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at the facility Tuesday. The company had invested over $5.5 million to build the new facility at the former Trussway facility, which has been vacant since 2009. It had received up to $450,000 in conditional tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corp. and additional incentives from the City of Franklin. The company has begun hiring and is expected to create a total of around 100 jobs by 2019. 84 Lumber will build wood roof trusses, floor trusses and wall panels at the facility.

Expansion plans

Earlier in March this year, the company had announced aggressive expansion plans to establish new office in Phoenix, Arizona and open more than a dozen stores and manufacturing facilities across Western US over the next eighteen months. The expansion plans were aimed at doubling the company’s footprint in the Western region.

Recent Accolades

84 Lumber had managed to feature itself in the Forbes' 2016 list of America's 250 Best Mid-Size Employers. The companies were selected based on a survey conducted in partnership with Statista.com, among employees belonging to companies from 25 different industries. According to Maggie Hardy Magerko, President and Owner, 84 Lumber Company, the recognition from Forbes is a testament of its service and commitment of associates across the country.

The company also was ranked as the fifth largest professional building products dealer, as per ProSales 100 List for the year, based on a survey conducted by ProSales Magazine. The survey noted that 84 Lumber’s yearly sales jumped higher by nearly 8% from $2.318 billion in 2014 to $2.504 billion in 2015. Also, the company has managed to feature in top five positions in all 24 out of the 25 lists released so far. According to the management, the consistent ranking on the ProSales 100 List is a clear evidence of its ongoing commitment to remain true to its ideals.

Operation Appreciation

84 Lumber had initiated special programs and activities dedicated to the recognition of military service members throughout the month of May with the launch of “Operation Appreciation”. The company had given away $8,400 per week in store credit to deserving military family or service members. In addition, the company also profiled several of its own veteran associates and their military experience on Facebook page. In addition, 84 Lumber had also offered 10% discount at its stores for all active and veteran military service members.
