RFP Provides Operational Update on COVID-19 Impacts

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Resolute Forest Products, Inc. (RFP) updated on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its business operations. The company hinted at implementing temporary capacity reductions in wood products and paper segments over the forthcoming days.

According to the company, the governments of Canada and the U.S. have issued orders to close all non-essential business operations in the regions where RFP operates its facilities. However, majority of the company facilities are expected to continue operations, as the governments have exempted forest products companies, considering the key role played by them in the fight against the virus.

RFP expects to implement temporary capacity reductions so as to match its production levels to demand levels. A good majority of these reductions, which will be announced locally, are expected to come from the wood products and paper segments. The company has also decided to maintain close monitoring on raw material supply, so as to ensure stability of the supply chain.

Meantime, Yves Laflamme, president and chief executive officer thanked employees for their dedicated support during these unprecedented times.
