Ponderey Industries Finalized Paper Mill Restart Schedule

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Ponderey Industries, LLC announced that it is moving forward with plans for a restart of its papermill located in Usk, Washington. The company declared that it is in advanced negotiations with key industry partners. It must be noted that Allrise Capital, parent company of Ponderay Industries, purchased the papermill at a bankruptcy auction held last year.

As per reports, the company is coordinating with the Pend Oreille Public Utility District #1 to request an additional 70MW of power be supplied to the onsite substation. The timeline and cost of supplying the power will be determined by an additional electrical grid load study by the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). The final feasibility and timing of the papermill restart will be announced depending on the outcome of this BPA study and subsequent power supply agreement.

Todd Behrend, CEO, Ponderey Industries noted that a lot of hard work and diligent business planning have gotten the company to this point in the process. The mill operations could be restarted as soon as additional power is made available to the site. It aims full restart of employment and operations in Q4 this year, subject to obtaining the needed additional power.
