SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): NESTLÉ Philippines has been recognized at the 2026 Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) Recognition Program for its outstanding contributions to plastic circularity, receiving both the Special Citation for Obliged Enterprises and the EPR Partners Leadership Award on Jan. 30, 2026.
As the only organization to receive two awards at the event, Nestlé was commended for its 100-percent plastic recovery rate and its role in helping the private sector navigate the EPR Act of 2022.
The awards, accepted by Sustainability Head Meg Santos and Sustainability Manager Miggo Bautista, highlight Nestlé’s role in the effective implementation of the EPR Act.
Nestlé was cited for the formation of the National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP) Flexible Plastic Recycling Working Group (FRWG), which aims to unlock investments and operationalize recycling technology for flexible plastics in the country.
“This recognition is a testament to Nestlé Philippines’ commitment to supporting EPR in the country and also highlights the value of working together to shape a waste-free future,” Nestlé Philippines Chairman and CEO Mauricio Alarcon said.
“Helping enhance recycling and waste management systems, including EPR, is a major factor in advancing toward a circular economy. This is where our goal within the NPAP FRWG aligns: to attract investments in and advocating for advanced recycling of post-consumer flexible plastics to divert flexible plastic waste back into the loop,” he added.
Beyond advocacy, Nestlé Philippines continues to transform its operations to reduce carbon emissions and expand waste recovery programs, engaging employees and consumers in the movement to address climate change.
