SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The City of Plainview’s Solid Waste Recycling Program was recently recognized by Keep Texas Beautiful/Keep Texas Recycling Program. The Plainview recycling program was awarded a certificate or recognition for its outstanding recycling efforts in 2023. Recycling has been a key point of interest for Brocke Lively, superintendent of solid waste management for the city.
Plainview recycled 166 tons through the program in 2023. According to a news release from the city, that amounts to savings of 2,814 trees, $4,996 in landfill fees, 1.15 million gallons of water, 9,933 pounds of air pollution and 678,755 kilowatt-hours of electricity. It also amounts to 546 cubic yards of landfill space.
While those savings prompted the recognition from Keep Texas Beautiful/Keep Texas Recycling, the savings also advance the goal to increase the longevity of the Landfill.
