WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster): The United States is planning to slap duties on the stainless steel pressure pipe imports from Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia. The government said that they would impose duties as they found the products had been traded at unfairly low prices.
The International Trade Commission of US said that the US producers were affected by the impost from the three countries, which triggered them to take the decision to impose duties of more than 167 percent of some Malaysian steel pipes.
These pipes are generally used in petrochemical lines, pharmaceutical production lines, transport lines, brewery process and general food processor lines. The imports from Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand totaled about $49.9 million in 2013, said the ITC.
