ANKARA (Scrap Monster): The latest import statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) indicates that the country’s seamless steel pipe imports increased considerably during the month of April this year.
The country imported 26,895 tons of seamless steel pipes during the month, 96% higher when compared with the imports during the same month a year ago.
The largest source of seamless pipe import by Turkey during April this year was China. The Chinese exports to Turkey constituted 62% of the country’s total imports. Turkey’s imports from China totaled 16,816 tons during the month. In second place was Ukraine with 2,714 tons,, followed by Germany with 2,574 tons.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s seamless steel pipe imports during the initial four-month period of the year totaled 93,314 tons. The imports were marginally down by 1.2% when compared with the imports during the corresponding four-month period in 2013.
