Essar Steel Gets Order to Deliver 1.2 Lakh Tonne of Steel Pipes For SAUNI Project in Gujarat

Essar Steel said that it has won an order to deliver 1.2 lakh tonnes of steel pipes to Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation project in Gujarat.

NEW DELHI (Scrap Monster): Essar Steel said that it has won an order to deliver 1.2 lakh tonnes of steel pipes to Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation project in Gujarat.

The company stated that of the 5.86 lakh tonnes of pipes needed for the project, they would supply 1.2 lakh tonnes of Helical Submerged Arc Welding (HSAW) pipes, which has length of 12 meter and diameter of 120 inches.

They added that the order would be executed over a period of one year and they did not disclose the figure that would get from the order. Under the Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation or SAUNI project, water from the Narmada River will be distributed to 115 reservoirs across seven districts of Saurashtra, Gujarat. Distribution is through four link pipelines in order to irrigate 10,22,589 acres of land.

The project costs about Rs 10,800 crore. Essar Steel is one of the leaders in India and abroad in the steel sector, part of the Essar Group. Essar Steel has the production capacity of about 2.75 lakh tonnes of HSAW pipes annually. The company has a number of international centers.
