BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) suggests considerable rise in the country’s welded steel pipe output during the month of May this year.
The country’s output of welded steel pipes totaled 4.93 million tons during the month of May ’14. The monthly output rose 12% upon comparison with the output during the same month a year ago. The Chinese welded steel pipe imports had totaled 4.40 million tons in May 2013.
As per NBS data, the country’s daily output of welded steel pipes averaged at 159,039 tons during the month of May, nearly 1% higher over the previous month. The production which picked up momentum following the Lunar New Year holidays in the country continued to remain robust during the month of May ’14, NBS observed.
The cumulative welded steel pipe output during the initial five months of the year totaled 21.35 million tons, 7% higher when compared with the output during the corresponding five months during the previous year. The January-May welded steel pipe production had totaled 19.95 million tons during 2013.
