Stora Enso Launched Fresh Portfolio of Bio-based Foam

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Stora Enso announced launch of new portfolio of bio-based packaging foams from wood. The fully recyclable foams are intended to be used for protective and thermal packaging.

The company offers Fibrease and Papira brands, which comes with versatile technical and sustainability properties. The customers are provided option to select suitable foam based on their specific packaging requirements. The foams offer protection to fragile goods and are considered as one of the best possible thermal packaging of temperature sensitive products, the company press release said.

Fibrease is commercially available now. Meantime, the pilot plant at Fors, Sweden site for producing Papira has started operations. The plant aims to evaluate and validate Papira as packaging foam.

Markus Mannstrom, Executive Vice President-Biomaterials at Stora Enso noted that trend of the day is to minimise the use of plastic and maximise recyclability. The growing demand in e-commerce and cold-chain logistic emphasizes the need for increased packaging protection. The 100% recyclable, made from certified wood, offer climate-friendly alternatives to fossil-based packaging protection.
