SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Smurfit Kappa announced launch of its innovative punnet portfolio for fresh produce market. The company has been a leading supplier of paper-based punnets and packaging to the fresh produce market.
The company launched its latest ‘Safe&Green’ portfolio comprising paper-based, sustainable solution to plastic packaging for fresh produce. The uniquely designed products are 100% renewable, recyclable and biodegradable, it claimed. The portfolio consists of innovative packaging solutions that can be implemented immediately. In addition, customers are provided with an option to choose designs tailored to their specific requirements.
The new portfolio is being launched in response to users’ pleas for punnets that balances visibility of the contents with sustainability. The recently carried out survey had reiterated users’ preference for paper-based punnets as a sustainable choice. The ‘Safe&Green’ portfolio is part of the company’s Better Planet Packaging portfolio which focuses on innovative sustainable packaging solutions.
Commenting on the development, Arco Berkenbosch, VP Innovation and Development, Smurfit Kappa Europe said that Safe&Green portfolio offers growers and retailers a range of sustainable punnets.
