SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Paper Excellence Canada Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp mill (MLMP) celebrated 30 years of operation. The mill, located east of Meadow Lake, has been in operation since 1992. The ceremony to mark the celebrations was attended by members of the community, provincial and federal elected representatives, apart from company staff and top officials.
It must be noted that the Meadow Lake pulp mill was the first mill acquired by Paper Excellence Canada. The mill employs over 200 full-time employees, creating approximately 1,300 direct and indirect jobs. The mill produces approximately 400,000 tonnes of bleached chemi-thermal mechanical pulp every year, generating nearly $470 million in economic activity every year.
Commenting on the milestone achievement, Stew Gibson, Chief Operating Officer for Paper Excellence Canada noted that the company is proud that its employees have made the pulp mill a staple in the Meadow Lake community and northern Saskatchewan for so long. It is a great day for the company as it celebrates 30 years of the mill being in operation, Gibson added.
Jeremy Harrison, MLA for Meadow Lake congratulated all the leadership and staff at Meadow Lake Mechanical Pulp on 30 years of operation.
