Nearly 400 permanent employment are anticipated to be created in the area by the project, which would require an investment of about $600 million to build. Using renewable energy on-site will result in a far smaller carbon footprint.
Pacific Steel Group Group CEO Eric Benson commented on the development, saying it is a very exciting day for the company and the first concrete step toward full vertical integration of its reinforcing steel operations. The entire team's combined efforts have produced the remarkable achievement. He went on to say that the new mill will help the company maintain its competitiveness for many years to come and further solidify its market leadership.
