PA Waste Leaders Continue to Push for Rechargeable Battery Legislation

SEATTLE (Waste Advantage): The Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association (PWIA) and its allies at the Keystone Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA) continue to tackle the growing epidemic of fires caused by the improper disposal of rechargeable lithium batteries in recycling containers and trash bags. 

A battery stewardship bill, HB 2241, passed in the PA House of Representatives in July 2024 and is currently under review in the PA State Senate.
