Nucor Corporation Announced Key Leadership Transition

Mr. Murphy joined Nucor in 2015 as Vice President and General Counsel.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  Nucor Corporation, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, announced a change in leadership, including the departure of its executive vice president.

Gregory J. Murphy, Executive Vice President of Business Services and General Counsel, will retire on June 7, 2025, after his 36-year tenure with the company, according to a news release from the company.

Additionally, Mr. Murphy will transfer his present responsibilities to Douglas R. Wilner, who will be promoted to President of Corporate Legal Affairs and General Counsel, and Benjamin M. Pickett, who will be promoted to Executive Vice President of Business Services. To guarantee a smooth transition, Mr. Murphy will collaborate with Messrs. Pickett and Wilner. He will continue to serve as an advisor to Leon Topalian, the company's chair, president, and chief executive officer, in his role as Executive Vice President in the meantime.

In 2015, Mr. Murphy became General Counsel and Vice President of Nucor. In 2020, he was elevated to his current position and given more responsibility for public relations and the environment in 2021.

On behalf of the whole Nucor team, Mr. Topalian expressed gratitude to Greg for his exceptional leadership and wise advice. According to Topalian, Greg was instrumental in changing Nucor's public affairs, legal, and environmental departments. He also wished a long and happy retirement to Greg, his wife Marcy, and their family.
