Nucor, AK Steel Honored with GM Suppliers of the Year Award for Non-Fabricated Steel

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Charlotte, North Carolina-headquartered Nucor Corporation and West Chester, Ohio-based AK Steel have been named as GM Suppliers of the Year for non-fabricated steel by General Motors (GM). Both the companies received the honors during the awards ceremony held on May 15 in Detroit, Michigan.

John Ferriola, Chairman, CEO & President of Nucor Corporation congratulated all teammates on the tremendous achievement. He said that the company is honored to be recognized by GM. The company has been successful in providing exceptional customer service through investments that have resulted in substantial expansion of its automotive product portfolio. Incidentally, Nucor is the first electric arc furnace steelmaker to receive the recognition.

Meantime, Roger Newport, Chief Executive Officer, AK Steel stated that the company is proud to be a recipient of the award and that it testifies the outstanding product quality and exemplary service it offers to GM. Incidentally, this is the second consecutive year that AK Steel has won the award.

The GM Supplier of the Year Award recognizes best suppliers who consistently exceed GM’s expectations, creates outstanding values and introduces innovations into the company. The winners are chosen by an expert team of GM executives belonging to various departments, based on strict performance criteria.
