SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc.- the Atlanta, Georgia-headquartered leading producer of rolled aluminum and the global leader in beverage can recycling announced that its European plants have been recently certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI).
The press release by the company stated that its Ohle, Germany facility has been awarded the Performance Standard and Chain of Custody Certification by the ASI. The plant has been successfully certified against the standards pertaining to environmental, social and governance principles. The certification also recognizes the plant’s capability to address sustainability issues in the aluminium value chain.
Also, the Ohle plant was awarded the ASI Chain of Custody Certification for its joint venture Alunorf. The ASI Chain of Custody Standard certifies not only the plants and their practices but also the physical metal that is produced and processed through the value chain.
Emilio Braghi, Senior Vice President & President Novelis Europe noted that the receipt of first ASI certifications for both the Performance Standard and the Chain of Custody demonstrates the compay’s strong commitment towards sustainability. Novelis is committed to achieving ASI certifications across all of its European manufacturing facilities, Braghi added.
