Northwestern Lumber Association to rebrand as BLD Connection

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): In a letter to members Sept. 20, leaders with the Northwestern Lumber Association announced the organization will rebrand to BLD Connection later this year. See the full letter below:

Dear Member(s) & Industry Contacts:

Earlier this month, it was announced that Mid-America Lumbermens Association (MLA) and Northwestern Lumber Association (NLA) have come together to form one of the largest building material and lumber associations in the country.

Along with the decision to merge our organizations, we took time to consider our brand platform and key messaging.

It is important that our Association welcomes our new members, honors our history, and ensures the longevity of the organization for the foreseeable future.

Stakeholders from across the organization spent months planning, participating in task force meetings and hearing input and perspectives from members, vendors, internal team members and industry partners. In the end, our Board of Directors made the unanimous decision to rebrand and rename the Association.

BLD Connection stands for Building Material & Lumber Dealers Connection.

BLD Connection is not only a name but a call to action, asking members to build connection! It is an acronym for Building Material & Lumber Dealers but it also cleverly doubles as an abbreviation for the word Build!

NLA has a rich history, but our industry and our Association have evolved over time. Capturing this evolution and highlighting our essential value were main considerations during the renaming process.

Other important aspects included:

Our members sell and provide building materials in addition to lumber.

Our network supports the entire industry.

Our membership now spans 10 states beyond the Northwest – from the Canadian border to the Southern border(s) of the Central United States. We also proudly support a number of members from Canada!

At the heart of this rebrand is the organization’s commitment to “building a stronger community” – a message that will shine through in every offering provided by the Association moving forward.

This is YOUR community, YOUR cohort, and YOUR association!

The most important note is the launch of our newly-designed website— www.BLDConnection.org—on Oct. 1, 2023.
