SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The International Copper Association (ICA) announced addition of a new member, Denver, Colorado-headquartered mining major Newmont Corporation.
Juan Ignacio Díaz, President, ICA welcomed Newmont to its fold, stating that the move has come at a crucial time when the world looks forwards to sustainable development practices. The values held by the company and its relentless commitment to the environment make Newmont a strong representative of the copper mining industry. The decision by Newmont to become part of the association will further strengthen the partnership within the industry, said Shehzad Bharmal, Chairman of the Board, ICA.

Peter Toth, Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer, Newmont noted that it looks forward to engage with the ICA on efforts to promote safe and sustainable production of copper. The company is committed to positively contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, he added.
