It was not the only fire to have broken out at the lumber mill in recent memory.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): A fire at a Nelson County lumber mill on Tuesday resulted in moderate damage.
The cause of the fire, the third at the mill since 2016, is under investigation.
Multiple fire departments responded to a fire that broke out at Turman Lumber's Tye River lumber mill off Thomas Jefferson Highway shortly after 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Units from Wintergreen Fire & Rescue, Amherst County Fire/EMS and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were able to “bring the fire under control with moderate damage” in just five hours, according to a Wintergreen statement.
The statement said Nelson County dispatchers “did a fantastic job coordinating the response.”
It was not the only fire to have broken out at the lumber mill in recent memory.
Back in May of 2016, "50 public safety personnel and 20 emergency apparatus" responded a fire that originated in a 400-foot-long and 6-foot-tall lumber scrap pile, according to a Lovingston Volunteer Fire Department statement at the time.
Then in February 2018, 100 firefighters were dispatched to a fire in a building at the mill, three were left with non-life-threatening injuries.
