The new production line is expected to reach full capacity by Q3 this year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): ND Paper- the Illionois-based pulp, paper and packaging producer and the U.S. subsidiary of China-based Nine Dragons Paper (Holdings) Ltd., declared plans to launch a new recycled pulping operation at its Old Town Division, Maine. The announcement was made in commemoration of Earth Day.

The company news release said that the new innovative production line will have capacity to produce approximately 200 metric tons of unbleached recycled pulp every day. It will employ proprietary technology, for which patent is still pending. The primary feedstock of the mill would be locally-sourced recovered paper, mainly old corrugated containers (OCCs). The new production line is expected to reach full capacity by Q3 this year.

The addition of the new line will help ND Paper to significantly increase production capacity at the mill. It is considered as the next step forward toward fiber integration of its worldwide manufacturing platform. The proposed recycled pulping operation will support around 20 new jobs in the Maine region.

Bruce Hogan, vice president and general manager of the Old Town division noted that the company is thrilled to start its new recycled pulping operation at the Old Town mill. The multi-million dollar investment represents another vote of confidence in Maine’s forest products sector, he added.
